Damian Abraham of Fucked Up has launched a new podcast called "Turned Out a Punk", which debuted today. Abraham described the project:
Each week I'll talk to people from all walks of life with one thing in common: they all grew up listening to punk. First episode is with Beggars Group boss Martin Mills, who before putting out Adele records put out one of the "first" punk records... and "passed" on Nirvana.

Toronto punks Fucked Up are one ambitious band. Right now, they're hard at work on new album David Comes to Life, which frontman Damian Abraham tells us is a full-on rock opera starring a guy who works in a light bulb factory, an activist, and an evil prosecutor. (Abraham describes the narrative as "heady and drugged-out." We believe him.)
They're also working on a pair of companion singles and a compilation of fake bands from the fictitious English town where the opera is set, which they hope to have out for Record Store Day. "We're just swinging for the fences," the singer told us. "If we fail, at least we tried something really ambitious." The band hopes to release the album in May.
In the meantime, Abraham is balancing recording vocals for the record with his new gig as host of "The Wedge", an indie/alternative video show on the Canadian music network MuchMusic. Read on for our Q&A with the burly frontman, which features details about his new TV job, the rock opera, and, yes, body-slamming Broken Social Scene frontman Kevin Drew in a pool:
Pitchfork: Congratulations on landing the MuchMusic job.
Damian Abraham: Thank you very much. It's really surreal. I was actually offered
