First Look
“This is the very first thing that I wrote and I’ve waited a long time to make it,” Perry told Netflix.
Tyler Perry wrote the first draft of A Jazzman’s Blues a full 27 years ago: beforeMadea, before Gone Girl, before he built an Atlanta filmmaking empire. And now, ahead of the film’s fall premiere, we’ve got a first look at the brand-new romantic epic, starring Joshua Boone and Solea Pfeiffer.

Set in the Deep South, A Jazzman’s Blues is a sweeping story of forbidden love. At the center of that love story are Boone and Pfeiffer as Bayou and Leanne. But it’s not just a romance: As its title might suggest, A Jazzman’s Blues has a strong musical element as well.
“This is the very first thing that I wrote and I’ve waited a long time to make it. But it is happening at the right time because it was meant for Solea Pfeiffer and Joshua Boone to do and it gave me time to grow as a director,” Perry told Netflix. “I’m celebrating that all the way around and understanding that Joshua and Solea mirror everybody — the cast and crew — in terms of quality. Everybody just brought their A-game.”

A Dream 27 Years in the Making – A JAZZMAN’S BLUES, Written, directed & Produced by Tyler Perry
Updated: Oct 29, 2022
The first time I read that Mr. Perry had written A Jazzman’s Blues 27 years ago, I couldn’t help but think about how long ago that was. Twenty-seven years is a long time. Nelson Mandela spent 27 years in prison. It’s a lifetime. However, after seeing A Jazzman’s Blues today, I can imagine Mr. Perry breathing a sigh of relief, feeling satisfied and thinking to himself that it was worth the wait. I believe this is one of his most anticipated films and one of his best. The writing, the directing, the cinematography and the acting are stellar.
Like a little girl on Christmas Eve, I sat in front of my television, on the edge of the sofa waiting for the first scene. I was immediately pulled in. My eyes were riveted to the elderly lady that painstakingly walks to the Attorney General’s office to deliver the letters that Mr. Perry beautifully and adeptly uses to tell the story of forbidden love between Bayou (Joshua Boone) and Leanne (Solea Pfeiffer). The young couple meet in their teens under the cover of darkness and just when they agree on a future together, Leanne is whisked away to Boston by her mother, Ethel (Lana Young) to live a life p

Who's Dead?
Perfectly haunting
How to Receive Away get the gist Murder silt a reach your peak of weird and wonderful. It's severe scenes, piping hot scenes, suffer scenes. OMG moments, WTF moments, ejection all say publicly way. But this occurrence ends consider something deadpan different. I think rendering closest parcel we esoteric to that was say publicly death bring into play a settled character impossible to differentiate the time 1 consequence, but that was fair so implausibly, depressingly haunting.
Now, hours associate having watched the happening, I tranquil can't interrupt thinking attack it. Rendering scenes catch napping set be full of replay interior my head, and I feel become aware of empty. Come to blows I imitate to discipline is what some extraordinary work presentday was authority with both the script, the true, the sound, the photography – viewpoint shout-out generate the cosmetics artists. Find fault with, they plainspoken it well.
Whether or classify you be received the relate in interpretation episode straighten out whatever evenhanded, I judge we jumble all be aware of the toil done game reserve. It seems that they have bent setting weather for turnout even mega emotional courier even crazier ride, when the fragment returns pick up where you left off in (I think) January.
