As Bhairoba is worshiped in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh regions of India whose links connect with King Bali; Similarly Khandoba is worshiped in Maharashtra whose links connect with King Bali as written in “Gulamgiri’(Slavery) by Jyotiba Phule. A majority of People from Maharashtra and Karnataka have Kuldaivat as Khandoba aka Khanderaya.
Khandoba’s statue is shown as a warrior sitting on a horse holding a big sword in his hand which is called as Khadak . The ‘Jejuri’ temple of Maharashtra is very famous where thousands of Bahujans go in big numbers every day. Turmeric is being sprinkled on it which gives it a golden look and hence the temple is also called as ‘Sonyachi Jejuri’ (meaning the golden Jejuri).
It is said that Khandoba was a legendary man in the history but as this also got hinduised thus a warrior in the past became a god now. Perhaps symbolizing Khandoba with a Dog seems to insulting Bahujan’s beliefs.
Waghya and Murli are two characters which are shown as in service to Khandoba, people also say dog shown as Waghya which was a servant of Khandoba, calling servant as a dog seems to be an insulting phrase to Abuse, whereas Murli is claimed to be a Devdasi during that time and also a servant to Khandoba which gives us a sense of Khandoba being considered a

The forgotten story of Fatima Sheikh, Savitribai Phule’s friend who helped set up India’s first girls’ school in Pune
“I will come to Pune as soon as I am fully recovered. Don’t worry. Fatima could be struggling (working alone) but she will not complain,” Savitribai said in her letter dated October 10, 1856, found in Dr MG Mali’s compilation of her writings.

This is one of the few direct references in written records to Fatima (January 9, 1831-October 9, 1900), Savitribai’s long-term colleague and collaborator whose birth anniversary is celebrated on January 9. While there has been some debate on Fatima’s story, her memory has stayed alive among niche circles of historians and social movement workers.
In fact, Urdu textbooks prepared by Maharashtra textbook bureau Balbharati included a small section on Fatima, along with those on Zakir Hussain and Syed Ahmed Khan. In Andhra Pradesh, a chapter on her life was introduced in Class 8 school textbooks.
