    Today marks the 78th birth anniversary of the late actress Zizi El-Badray, best known for playing the "Soaad" role in A Woman on the Outside (1964).

    The legendary actress, who graced the Egyptian cinema with her art and beauty, El-Badrawy is sorely missed by millions of her fans. The classic actress of the bygone era featured in a number of successful films and timeless classics, including ‘Al-Qeshra Al-Zahabiya‘, Forgiveness, foundling, and A Widow with Three Daughters.

    Often referred to as “The Blonde of Egyptian cinema,” she was born in Cairo on 9 June 1944 to an Egyptian mid-class family.

    Her career

    Elbadrawy made her showbiz debut as a fourteen-year-old in (Port Said movie) in 1957, directed by Ezz El-Din Zolfaka.

    After a while, she was once noticed by the director Hassan Al-Imam for her charm and innocence; she was selected to play the lead role in his film ‘Aawatef -1958’,  in which she received her first good salary.

She started her acting career with director Ezz El Din Zolfakar in a...Read more small role in “Port Said” before Hassan Al Imam chose her for “Aawatef,” changed her anem and cated her in multiple roles afterwards. El Badrawi got married twice, the first time was from director Adel Sadeq in 1966 whom she's met during the making of My Love in Cairo. She got a divorce soon after and by the beginning of the 70s she got married to Tawfiq Abdel Guelil, a lawyer that she loved very much as she said to the press. El Badrawi kept a distance with drama and acting during her second marriage. Divorced in 1988, she appeared in many drama series including El Helmiya Nights, Money and Children and El Halawani Gate. She died on the 31st of January, 2014.
